Lagoonie Film Production (Shahinaz Elakkad) held the premiere for Barra El Manhag, by director Amr Salama, Wednesday night at Sea Cinema Arabella. This came in the presence of the film’s cast and a large number of stars, celebrities, critics, public figures, as well as members of the press, where the film has kicked off its screenings at Egyptian theaters.
Among those who attended are the film’s star Maged El Kedwany, the child Omar Sharif, producer Shahinaz Elakkad, director Amr Salama, DOP Ahmed Beshary (Chico), composer Rageh Daoud, and film editor Ahmed Yosry. This is in addition to a number of celebrities and public figures; producer Mohamed Hefzy, director Karim El Shenawy, Akram Hosny, Hassan El Raddad, Hesham Maged, Taha Desouky, Tamer Farag, Omar El Zohairy, and Egyptian singer Abo El Anwar.
The film landed its world premiere at the closing ceremony of Red Sea International Film Festival on December 13th, where it gained a wide audience attendance. On the other hand, the film had a sold-out audience screening on December 14th.
The film has sparked a slew of concerns among social media users, who coined the hashtag #who-is-the-ghost following the release of its teaser and official posters and trailers.
‘Barra El Manhag,’ is a light-hearted drama about Nour, a 13-year-old orphan boy. As all the boys are afraid of the haunted house right in front of the school, he's encouraged to go into the house to gain their respect, only to find an old man living there, hiding from the world. A friendship and apprenticeship evolve between the boy and the old man, leading to a journey of self discovery for both of them.
The film stars Maged El Kedwany and the child Omar Sharif, alongside the guests of honor Ruby, Asma Abulyazeid, Ahmed Khaled Saleh, and Donia Maher. Featuring DOP Ahmed Beshary (Chico), the film is directed by Amr Salama who wrote the story of the film and co-wrote the script alongside Khaled Diab. It is produced by Lagoonie Film Production, and distributed locally by Dollar Film, and across the Arabian Gulf region by Orient Films. MAD Solutions handles the film’s marketing and promotion.
