Lagoonie Film Production presented its monetary prize to the film project Severed Head, by director Lotfi Achour at the CineGouna SpringBoard. The prize of $10,000 was given to the film to support it in its development phase.

Based on real events, Severed Head follows the story of two young shepherds who are attacked on a mountain by jihadists, who decapitate the elder one and force the younger one to return the head as a macabre message to the family.

Lagoonie held a welcoming reception for the guests during the festive events of CineGouna Platform, which is now becoming an interactive connection between international industry professionals and promising young talents.

Lagoonie Film Production has been recently involved in many activities that support the Arab film industry. During this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the company was one of the sponsors of the Arab Cinema Center (ACC) stand, the first-ever Arab stand at the festival. Lagoonie Film Production also presented a monetary award at the 2018 Final Cut in Venice workshop of the Venice International Film Festival. During the previous edition of the Cairo International Film Festival, Lagoonie Film Production sponsored a number of workshops, lectures and panel discussions held within the Cairo Industry Days.

Organized by CineGouna Platform, CineGouna SpringBoard is a project development and co-production lab that enables Arab film directors and producers with projects in development or films in post-production to find creative and financial support. CineGouna Platform is an industry-oriented event created to support and empower filmmakers and industry professionals, aiming to develop promising film projects from Egypt and the Arab world and help them find artistic and financial support.
